This didn’t go as planned.

Remember this photo from a few weeks ago?

Raven's clipper cut

Mom used the buzzy clippers to steal my floof in the hopes that it would reduce the number of hairballs I was producing. Well, it didn’t work!

I’ve still managed to produce a hairball every week (strangely, every Wednesday) for the past three weeks. If I were a vengeful kitty, I’d say the last hairball I produced on the foot of their bed at 2:55 am was payback, but I’m not that kind of girl. For some reason, hairballs just seem to come up very early in the morning and I just happened to be sleeping on their bed.

I wonder how long it will take for all my floof to grow back. Mom admires my floof and she’s hoping it doesn’t take too long for me to have my lustrous black furs back to full length.

The one that pukes up the hairballs the most around here is actually… Binga! The short-haired kitty out of the three of us. Go figure.

  2. Jan K says:

Well, it was a good idea! It’s too bad it didn’t work though. I just know when we get our dog groomed it is probably about 6-8 weeks when it’s already time to do it again….it grows pretty fast on her.

  3. Brian says:

Hey, ask Sister Zoe! It’s much better for that fur to come up than to stay in there!!!

  4. pilch92 says:

Hairballs are awful. We know you would never do that on purpose, you are too sweet.

  5. Ick! Sorry you are having to deal with those hairballs. But we hope you know that you look beautiful no matter what length your furs are!

  6. Annabelle says:

We hope all the hairballs are behind you now!

  7. Sorry you have hairball issues, but we also think that it is better that they come out rather than stay in 😉

We’re with Brian. It’s good that they’re coming up even if they are a bit messy. I’m sure your floof will be back in no time, Raven. Until then, enjoy the cool air. 🙂

We’re sorry you still have to deal with hairballs ! Purrs

  10. Better out than in, Raven!! Good aim too 🙂 xx

  11. Has your mom tried to give you any of the hairball remedies like CatLax? We have some hairball treats that we would be willing to send you to see if they will help. Send us an email at theislandcats at gmail dot com if you’re interested. We purr that your furs grow back soon.

I have to eat a laxative twice a day, so mom doesn’t force me to eat hairball goo (Laxatone) because she doesn’t want me be too stressed and refuse my laxative. I will eat Greenies Smart Bites hairball control, but mom isn’t sure if they do any good and I don’t need any extra calories. Such a balancing act!

      Which treats do you use?

  12. We’ve been having hair ball problems too. 🙁

  13. Clooney says:

Oh those furballs are bothersome aren’t they? We bet your floof will grow back in no time at all. Happy Easter Raven and family!

  15. Hairballs DO come in the morning. You still look plenty floofy to me.

Hee hee hee. If your Human is gonna be doin’ that to you, I think she needs to take a few classes at cosmetology school! I produce my furballs at all different times of the day, but I love to put them on the rug or the bedspread. I consider it a real failure when they end up on the hardwood or the vinyl floor. Once a week? Well, that’s not so bad. If you bring ’em up nice and regular like that, they don’t get too big. I like to eat my kitty grass to help them along.

Hope you all had a good Easter! XOXOXOXO

  17. William says:

Raven, maybe you should employ our strategy–with THREE black cats, my mom can never tell which of us is to blame! (For some reason, Caroline and Izzy almost never have hairballs.)

  18. Gattina says:

You must have been a sheep in your former life ! It’s a pity that your mum can’t weave and knit to make pulllovers and scarfs with your fur !

  19. Gracie says:

Thanks for stopping by the other day. So nice to meet you. I am sorry the mom got ride of some of your fur but the good news is that things will grow back. I don’t usually hack up a hair ball but lately I was dong that and one day there were five. Mom lets me eat Blue Buffalo food and they have food that is weight control (don’t ask) plus hair ball reducer stuff. It is working. Check it out and maybe she will not cut your hair off again.

  20. spittythekitty says:

Do you has a FURMINTATOR, Raven? For us longer-furred kitties, they’re the best at reducing furballs!

  21. spittythekitty says:

Oops, make that FURMINATOR! Only one T!

    • Raven says:

I have a Furmintator….or furminator. Mom uses it on me about once a week and it does help remove fur. But it’s not my favorite grooming tool so I still have plenty of fur to shed and eat!

  22. Hey Raven, we’ve nominated you for two blogging awards. Please stop by our post tomorrow to see them!

  23. You can’t blame her for trying since she was trying to do what was best for you! We are blogging at a new site:
