The Garden, The Stabby Place, and Bootsie’s Auction

Happy Monday everyone.

This is my garden. Over the last few weeks, that sunflower on the right started growing. We think the birds took a sunflower seed from the bird feeder and planted it in the strawberry bed.
My gardenThe flower is really pretty, and it attracted a bee. We hardly ever see bees anymore, so mom & dad think they might plant a bed of sunflowers next year to help attract bees to the garden. Look at how much pollen the bee has collected on his legs!
Sunflower with beeIf you look closely in the photo below, you can see two finches. They enjoy eating the seeds off the overgrown basil. We haven’t seen finches in a couple years (the bigger jays are probably chasing them away) so we’re glad they’re back. Can you see both finches? One is easy to see on top of the wire cage.  The second is one rung down, to the left, with his back facing us.

It’s fun and relaxing to watch my garden, but today it was interrupted by a trip to the stabby place. I decided to be brave and explore the counter & shelves.

Raven at the vet'sAfter that, I was stabbed with a rabies vaccine and with some medicine that should help alleviate my itching. My vet is really good at stabbing kitties, so I barely even felt it. Mom hasn’t shared any photos, but I’ve been itching and I’ve bitten all the fur off the underside of my tail, my tummy, and my thighs. I’ve also been licking my tummy so much that I have a couple raw spots. The vet thinks I’m allergic to something and the shot should help.

I’m lucky to have access to great vet care and mom’s Visa card, but not all kitties are so fortunate. If you haven’t already seen the info around the cat blogsphere, there’s a fundraiser and auction for Bootsie to help pay for his medical bills for his traumatized ear. Mom donated some super sparkly earrings so if you like sparkly ears, you can check them out at the link above.  And here’s the info on Bootsie’s YouCaring fundraiser.

  2. Brian says:

Watch that fur pulling thing, that’s how Sister Zoe ended up with a tummy full that had to be cut out. Hey, thanks for the Meow-Out for sweet Bootsie!

    • Raven says:

I remember. That’s one of the reasons mom trimmed my floof a few months ago – so I wouldn’t be eating so much fur.

  3. Ye gads, the stabby place! Lucky that you have a tranquil garden to sooth your nerves!

You are a kitty Raven. Sorry you had to go to the stabby place. Prancie gets allergies like that too, but now that I buy the grain free food she is much improved. I don’t know if there is a connection or not, but she didn’t even do as well on the vet prescription food for allergies as she does on grain free. I hope Bootsie gets all the help he needs and a family.

  6. Summer says:

Ugh! You just reminded my human that my rabies booster is due at the end of the month! Loved seeing your garden anyway.

  7. Annie says:

Hi Raven! Your garden is so lovely. I love that sunflower! I’m sorry you had to go the vet. I sure hope your itchies go away!

  8. Your garden looks great! We love watching the birdies that come to ours. We hope that shot stops your itchies. Ernie gets itchies too…and he’s had that shot and it helps him.

  9. Love your garden! I had my rabies vaccine a week or so ago and did super well too!!! Love, Cody

  10. William says:

  12. Having the itches is horrible, Raven. I hope the shot helped!! We don’t have to have rabies shot here, but we do have other ones!! xoxox

  13. The Swiss Cats says:

  14. Jan K says:

Your gardens look great, and I love that the birds hang out there! We saw a lot less bees for a few years (to the point I got no squash because they weren’t being pollinated), but since I added a flower garden next to the veggies, we’re seeing a lot more. (and I only garden organically now, I think that helps too). I love when the birds plant a sunflower for us.
It’s no fun getting stabbed, but we hope it at least has made you feel better!

  15. BZ Dogs says:

I love your garden! It’s nice to see everybody else’s since the drought has turned our yard “golden”. (sigh)
