My New Neighbor – Jackie

JackieThis is my new kitty neighbor, Jackie. She moved in across the street about one month ago. Mom was surprised to see her out a couple weeks ago, but her owners said they tried to keep her in but Jackie wasn’t having any of it. She prefers to be outside and doesn’t really like the pair of year-old kitties who are indoor kitties of that family.

Of course Mom introduced herself to Jackie, and the new family, and even took them fresh catnip from my yard as a welcome gift. Jackie didn’t like the nip but her mom said the younger cats would love it.

Jackie is very adventurous and friendly. She’s visited some of the neighbors’ yards, including ours, and is happy to get attention and petting. This is a photo of her strutting her stuff as mom called her across the street back to her own yard.  Mom said Jackie can visit my yard as long as she doesn’t stress me out. Kitties love our front yard because it’s full of trees and shrubs….and birds.

Jackie close-upHere’s a close-up of Jackie.  As you can see, she’s a very pretty girl.

Hopefully, when I actually see her (Mom doesn’t think Jackie has come so close to the house that we’ve “met”) she’ll be polite and not get all hissy or assertive at me through the windows.

Some kitties are like Jackie – they can’t be confined indoors. My human’s soul cat was like that – semi-feral, territorial and utterly devoted to her.

  2. Nice to meet Jackie ! She’s a very pretty girl indeed. Purrs

  3. Brian says:

Jackie is very pretty and I hope she remains safe out there.

  4. Jackie is cutie, and she certainly has confidence!

  5. We hope you two can be window pals. We think that could be fun!

  6. We agree that Jackie is very god looking. Almost as good looking as you 🙂
She appears to be a free spirit who likes to do her own thing 🙂
    Hope she is street smart.

A very confident tail! She’s adorable. One of my (boy) childhood cats used to play paw games with the (girl) cat from a few doors down. Every morning she would show up on the other side of the wood fence, and the two would take turns sticking their paws through a knothole a batting (or being batted at) by the cat on the opposite side. I’m not sure if they ever met any other way, but they did seem to be having a good time.

She is indeed very pretty ! Our Arthur loves to visit all neighbors too ! He is always visiting them ! I think everybody knows him here in the street and even further !

  9. The local cats seem to like our garden too but our cat is very territorial and chases them off. There’s an almighty kerfuffle outside sometimes!

    Beautiful cat!

Jackie is gorgeous. Hope your mom has advised the neighbor to make sure she has a collar and name tag and a chip. Our mom is totally shocked that her humans let her out so soon after moving to the neighborhood. That usually spells disaster. We’ll be praying for her that she stays safe. 12. What gorgeous photos of you Jackie. We can tell you’re a free spirit!

Jackie is a very pretty girl.. I would suspect that someone in your house won’t be happy with the intruder in the yard. I never liked them when we lived in our house. I always meowed back at them and told them to get back in their own yard. I haven’t seen any intruders in the apartment, but M says there are a few other kitties who also live in apartments here.

  14. Team Tabby says:

    Nice to “meet” Jackie!

  15. Annie says:

Jackie sure is pretty. We hope neither of you will be stressed by the other. We also hope she’ll be safe.

  16. I hope you haven’t been stressed by any of her visits! Our neighbor’s cat comes in our front yard and it makes Rita crazy! Luckily she can’t see out to the front from inside – she only sees the cat in our yard sometimes when we head out on walks or when we pull in/out of the garage.

BTW, it’s a little weird to read about a cat that shares your own name. It doesn’t sound like we have much in common though – “Jackie is very adventurous and friendly.” I’m neither. 🙂 And I have never been one to “strut my stuff” – but I can see from the photos that the other Jackie has that move down cold!
