A week of broken

It’s been a week of broken here.

On the serious side, my 80+ year old Grandma broke her ankle. She needed surgery, has a cast that weighs 13 pounds (she weights only about 100 pounds), and she needed to go to a nursing facility.  Grandma's giant cast

On the lighter side, Mom broke one of my plates today while preparing my mid-morning snack. The plate slipped out of her hand like a frisbee, fell to the floor, broke in half, and scattered my food into both the kitchen and living room! Luckily it was one of my least favorite plates. The worst part is they were hurrying to an appointment for Grandma, and didn’t have time to make me another snack. I was famished waiting 3 hours for my next meal!

Broken plate

Hopefully we done with breaking things for a long time.

We’re busy visiting Grandma and finding a place to care for her for the next few months while her leg heals. She’s not allowed to use that leg for the next 3 months! But we’re trying to visit all of you as much as we can. It’s always a nice break from all this serious Grandma stuff (pun intended!)

Oh noooooo, poor grandma, and your poor mom too. Tell her not to worry about visiting us – we haven’t visited in awhile either. So, she is forgiven. Purrs are coming for grandma!

  3. I hope things improve all the way around. Healing prayers for Grandma! Hugs.

  4. Aw, your poor grandma. We send her a lot of healing purrs.

  5. 15andmeowing says:

Your poor Grandma, I will be praying for her to heal quickly.

  6. Your poor grandma, Raven! Was she trying to jump to the top of her refrigerator? Both Caroline and I (Elliott) have had slips and spills from that. No matter, we sure hope her ankle heals much faster than anyone thinks. (And at least she doesn’t have to wear a cone!) We’ll be thinking of both her and your mom, too.

Mom says that she will add your grandma to her prayers. It is tough at her age to heal. Sorry about your plate. Lisbeth shoved Astrid food bowl, which her husband Sampy sent her, right off the counter and busted it into a million pieces. Your dish looks like a clean break. Maybe just a bit of glue and you can fix it. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy

  8. Poor Grandma. Paws crossed they find someplace she is happy with for her recovery. Glad that wasn’t your favorite plate Raven! We will keep Grammy in our prayers.

Your poor grandma! I hope she heals well and doesn’t go nuts for having to stay off that leg for three months.

  11. Yikes, too many broken things around your place! And you didn’t get any food for hours…well, I’d call the ASPCA for that! Tell your Grandma that she’ll be dancing the jig in no time, if she behaves and listens to the doctors.

  12. Deziz World says:

We hope your Grandma heals as quickly as possible – that looks pretty rough! I broke a plate this week too, but it was not one of the pets’. However, Luke went running to his “safe place” in the closet when the crash happened! I had also just dropped my camera the day before, but thank goodness that didn’t break!
Here’s hoping for peace and a “break” for all of us from any accidents! 🙂

Poor Grandma! 🙁 Let’s hope the time passes quickly… unlike those foodless three hours, which I’m sure felt like eternity.
