Disturbing Statue (silly & safe to view)

Mom & Dad are doing some maintenance in my yard, so they visited a local garden center to look at plants and statues. Mom thought this statue was a little disturbing.

Horsehead statue

It was almost life-sized and there were two of them sitting atop an outdoor dining area. Her only thought was, “Who would want decapitated horse heads on their dining table”?

Dad said they’re for people who enjoy watching The Godfather.

We’ll stick to statues of bunnies, hedgehogs, frogs, turtles, cats, & dogs.

  1. I am from Chicago, previous playground of Capone and Bugs Moran. Yes, I find the horsehead disturbing. However, horse people that I know have these on columns at the entrance gates to their property. Go figure. Perspective is eveything. Hugs!

I could see horse lovers putting the statue up high, just not on the ground or the dining table!

  2. Annie says:

That is different! Too funny about what your dad said but that’s the first thing we thought of too. We’re with you. Bunnies, frogs and the like are much better!

  3. Summer says:

    Yeah, that IS weird!

  4. Brian says:

Oh yea, that head could be a bit scary fur sure!

  5. Grace says:

Definitely a weird choice of garden decor.

  6. The head is quite nice, but we agree that a table is not a good place for it to be.
We giggled at your hubby’s comment 😉

  7. It would look better on top of a column.

We’re with you – we’ll stick to cute little statues!

  9. MOL! We agree with your dad, Raven. 🙂

The first thing I thought of was The Godfather, but I still find that statue disturbing.

  11. Yep, that’s what we thought too! Strange placement indeed. We would also stick with something friendlier!

  12. Yes, that’s weird on the table ! Purrs

  13. BZ Dogs says:

Very majestic… but not really want to see on a table 🙂

  14. I was thinking…”well, if you put it in the garden, surrounded by nice plants…” but it would still be weird, in my book. Did you see any statues of St. Francis? I’m looking for one of those, not that I’m religious or anything, but he loved animals so.

    • Raven says:

This garden center had several statues of St. Francis of Assisi. We have one in our yard.I’ll have to find a photo and share. I’m not religious either, but it’s a nice statue and if someone is a patron for animals, I’m all for that!
