Does this scale make me look sleepy?

My scale is a very comfy place to take a nap.

I wonder if I weigh less if I stand on my toes.

No. Okay, then I’ll lie down in the other direction and continue my nap.

Raven began losing weight when she started eating only canned food. The vet thought that was good because Raven had slowly gained 2 pounds after her sister Sammi passed away and she didn’t have anyone to interact with all day long. At her heaviest, Raven was 12 pounds, but now she’s healthier at just over 9 pounds. She goes for her wellness exam on Monday, so we’ll see what the vet thinks of her slimmed down (and furrier) body.

I’ve had the Tanita 1584 digital baby scale for about 15 years and it’s been a great tool to keep track of the cats’ weight at home. I’m very careful with it and it’s stored on a closet shelf where it cannot be used as a bed!

  1. We think that curvy scale is just right for a nap, Raven. But the only time we see one of those is when we go to the fix-it place, so we’re not sure we wouldn’t be scared of it in the wild!

  2. Mary McNeil says:

Purrs for a happy check up for Raven !

  3. When we switched Angel and Chuck to wet-food only, they both lost weight and the vet was very pleased! I think we should have a scale in-house too; time to go shopping!

  4. Grace says:

Maybe you should put a little blankie in it, for the times when you are not using it.

  5. Probably wise to keep the scale in a safe place as it is not a bed or toy to play on or with.

  6. Annie says:

Good for you, Raven! I noticed that Annie has gained weight and she hasn’t played chase with Pierrot in months. I don’t know why but I’m sure that has a lot to do with her weight gain. Anyway, that looks like a comfy bed. Enjoy it while you can.

  7. We’re purring that Raven gets a good checkup. We have a baby scale that the mom weighs us on.

  8. Good for you Raven!

  9. Raven, you are so cute. I like your thinking, too. Hugs.

  10. OMC I cannot let my Mom see this post! She will want that scale for me because the Vet thinks I am too fat!!! Way to go Raven! Love, Cody

  11. 15andmeowing says:

Good job on your diet Raven. We have a baby scale too 🙂

  12. So cute! I’ve tried that standing on my toes thing too… doesn’t seem to work! Wish I could get Rita to lose 2 lbs. She’s not big on eating her meals, but somehow all the treats she wheedles out of us make it hard to get 2 lbs off of her! (Of course 2 lbs to Rita is not as much as it is to Raven – 9 lbs! So tiny! Rita is 50 right now but wish she was 47 or 48. Must work on it!) Hope the exam goes well!

  13. Summer says:

Paws up, Raven! We have a baby scale here, but it doesn’t have the top part, so if my human uses it to weigh us, she puts us in a box which she puts on the scale.

  14. That curvy scale has the purrfect design for a cat bed. We hope you have a good checkup ! Purrs

  15. Brian says:

You are too cute! Maybe Sister Gracie needs to sleep on her scale!

  16. Cathy Keisha says:

Whoa! Pics of YOU on YOUR blog! Dr. D. has a scale like that and told TW to get one. Hope your visit isn’t too stressful.

  17. Jan K says:

Cats will sleep anywhere, won’t they? We hope Raven’s exam goes well and she is at a healthy weight. She is about the same as Samantha right now, and our vet is happy with her weight. I think the highest she had ever been was around 10 or 11.
